Awards and Honors
Educated in both dentistry (DMD from Harvard University) and medicine
(MD from Vanderbilt University), Dr. Posnick is board-certified in Plastic
Surgery as well as Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Posnick has trained at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University, the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the University of Pennsylvania, and Vanderbilt Medical Center and University.
His professional appointments include: Clinical Professor of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Pediatrics at Georgetown University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons.
Working with Leibinger Company beginning in the 1980s, Dr. Posnick developed, and still refines, small bone plate and screw internal fixation systems that are used in craniomaxillofacial surgery worldwide.
Dr. Posnick has lectured around the world and authored more than 200 medical journal articles and book chapters while continuing to conduct an active clinical practice. His new textbook, published by W.B. Saunders, Craniofacial and Maxillofacial Surgery in Children and Young Adults, is now available.

Dr. Posnick is a Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Minnesota. He began practicing in 1986 in Toronto where he directed the craniofacial program at the Hospital for Sick Children, which is affiliated with the University of Toronto. He was recruited to Georgetown University Medical Center in 1992, and continues his private practice in the Washington D.C. area. He is married with two children.
